Who We Are

We are a passionate team of healthcare educators, experienced practitioners, and lifelong learners. With over 16 years of experience in the industry, our commitment to compassionate care, integrity, and continuous professional development drives us to offer the best educational resources available.

Why Quality Assurance is Important to CHP Education:

At CHP Education, we are committed to supporting Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) in their pursuit of excellence and professional growth. The Quality Assurance (QA) program, as outlined by the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CCHPBC), plays a crucial role in ensuring that RMTs provide safe, ethical, and effective care. Our educational resources, including the guide you just received, are designed to help you meet these high standards and continuously improve your practice.

The QA program's core features, such as core competencies, practice improvement, inclusivity, and evidence-based approaches, align with our mission to foster a community of skilled and empathetic health professionals. By staying informed about changes to the QA program and engaging in continuous learning, you can maintain public trust and provide the highest level of care. We are here to support you every step of the way, providing the tools and knowledge you need to thrive in your career.

What is the Quality Assurance Program?

The College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CCHPBC) is dedicated to ensuring that Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) provide safe, ethical, and effective care. Our Quality Assurance (QA) program is designed to uphold high practice standards and support RMTs in their continuous professional improvement.

Key Features of the Quality Assurance Program

  1. Core Competencies and Standards: Our QA program is grounded in core competencies, professional standards, and the Standards of Practice to ensure safe and competent care.
  2. Practice Improvement: We encourage RMTs to continually improve their practice through our supportive QA framework.
  3. Inclusivity and Fairness: The program is inclusive and fairly applied to all RMTs, ensuring meaningful achievement of requirements.
  4. Evidence-Based: Our approach is informed by the best available evidence to maintain relevance and effectiveness.
  5. Public Protection: Consistent with CCHPBC’s mandate, our QA program prioritizes public safety.

Changes to the Quality Assurance Program

  • Standard First Aid/CPR-C: RMTs must maintain current certification as part of their registration renewal.
  • Practice Hours: Practising RMTs are now required to complete 500 practice hours within the previous three years to ensure current practice knowledge and build public trust.
  • Online Courses: Practising RMTs must complete a College-authored online course each year, with optional previous courses available for credits.
  • Self-Assessment and Learning Plan: A yearly self-assessment and learning plan is now mandatory for practising RMTs.
  • Learning Activities: RMTs are required to complete two learning activities annually that support their individual learning plans.

Quality Assurance Advisory Groups

To ensure diverse perspectives in our QA program, we created advisory groups with RMTs from various backgrounds, including BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+ communities, and Indigenous registrants. These groups provided valuable feedback on the self-assessment process and practice hours requirement, shaping a more inclusive and effective QA program.
